Masthead Ads help brands generate high-impact awareness and reach a large audience quickly, making them ideal for launches, special campaigns, and major promotional moments.
How it works
On desktop, YouTube Masthead ads autoplay silently for up to 30 seconds at the top of the Home feed. They can appear in widescreen or 16:9 format, with channel information shown automatically on the right side. Advertisers can also add up to 2 companion videos. After autoplay ends, the video returns to a thumbnail, and users who click it are taken to the YouTube watch page.
On mobile, Masthead ads appear with a video thumbnail, headline text, and a CTA. The ad also automatically displays the advertiser’s channel name and icon.
For YouTube TV placements, the Masthead video can autoplay, if supported, without sound for the full duration of the video at the top of the YouTube app. This format may appear in widescreen or 16:9 aspect ratio, and viewers can interact with the ad using their remote control. After autoplay ends, the video returns to a thumbnail image. When viewers click the video or thumbnail, they are taken to a full-screen watch page. CTA elements cannot be added to TV Masthead ads.
